I had my 30th birthday here this year and it was wonderful - I took over the whole place. We had all sorts of different acts on the stage downstairs. I got up and sang and my dad sang, and then at 1.30am, I dragged everyone up here to the bar, and started off a whole new party. I think it's just like an old speakeasy - people get properly dressed up to come and there's often live music.Plus there's a cracking wine list and great cocktails. I'm not a big cocktail drinker, but it's lovely to have the odd drink made specially for you here.
David [Thewlis, the actor] and I live in Windsor with our 16-month-old daughter, Gracie, or at least we do when we're not travelling for work - we've been to nine countries in the last year. Eating at home is important for us, because we eat out so much when we're away. Every morning we all have porridge for breakfast, with blueberries for the antioxidants, and Manuka honey (that's also great for spots -just dab it on and they heal up).
Gracie eats everything we do, we just liquidise it for her. We order our organic veggies online, and we also live in Windsor right by the farm shop, where the meat and vegetables are as fresh as can be, so when I'm at home I tend to cook a lot, and we eat pretty healthily, although I admit I did have KFC last week. I love Thai and Indian food - we order Indian food at least once a week. I made proper Thai recently and it was exactly right, it tasted just like real Thai food - I was really proud of myself! And I love, love, love Italian food.
I have masses of recipe books and cook a lot of traditional English things, stews and wholesome soups. I'm not a massive vegetable fan - I've got better since I discovered how to undercook them so they were crispy rather than trying to eat mushy overcooked stuff, which really put me off.
There was a lot of focus in the newspapers on my losing weight too quickly after I had Gracie. I'd like to put the record straight about that. I ate very healthily all the way through my pregnancy and afterwards. Up until the last month, I had nothing but a tiny bump. I didn't do anything extreme at all - there were reports of me using fat-sucking machines and all sorts of silliness - all I did was walk a lot and I was also breast-feeding. I didn't even go on a strict diet: I've never been on a strict diet in my life. I just don't overeat, and I don't eat if I'm not hungry.
I'm not even finicky. I like my plate to be relatively crowded - I can't stand a plate of three little twiddly bits and I love carbs. Americans find me bizarre and always ask me why I eat so many carbs; I tell them I don't get full otherwise. I'm always on a quest to find the best mash, or really good chips. If I find them then I'm quite happy. You can't beat good fish and chips - Harry Ramsden's though - I'm still a northern girl, I grew up in Rochdale. I love crisps and I'm perhaps the biggest fan of Marmite on toast in the world.
I'm always trying to find inventive ways of making myself eat more veg so I eat a lot of salad with bacon and avocado which is good way of sneaking in some leaves. If I don't have meat in my diet then I feel weak. David was a vegetarian until he met me - but then he came on a family holiday and suddenly wanted to eat chicken. I think I need to eat meat, though, because I have a pretty fast metabolism - my whole family does. Ideally I'd live on a diet of meat, red wine, strong cheese and dark chocolate. That would be just about perfect.
